Standard vs Urgent: how the timing compares
Both routes issue exactly the same electronic visa; only the speed differs. Choose standard if you are planning ahead, or urgent if you need to travel within a day. For full details and to choose urgent processing, visit the urgent visa page.
The eVisa timeline, step by step
- Apply (minutes): complete the online form with your passport and travel details.
- Pay (instant): the review clock starts once your payment is confirmed.
- Review (≈3 business days standard / 3–5 hours urgent): your application is checked and processed.
- Receive (instant): the approved eVisa is emailed to you — print it or keep a digital copy.
What affects processing time
- Accuracy and completeness of your application details
- Photo and passport quality (a passport must be valid for at least six months)
- Confirmation of payment (the clock starts at this point)
- Your nationality and any additional checks — see your nationality page
- Overall application volumes during busy travel periods
When should you apply?
For standard processing, apply at least several days before departure so the eVisa is ready well ahead of travel. If your trip is imminent, the urgent service can issue the visa the same day. There is no need to apply months in advance — the eVisa is issued shortly before travel and is valid for a single entry of up to 30 days.
Common reasons for delays
Most delays come from avoidable issues: details that do not match the passport, an unclear or wrongly formatted photo, a passport close to expiry, or payment that has not been confirmed.
Check the full Azerbaijan visa requirements before applying to avoid them.
Peak season considerations
Around major holidays, festivals and large events, application volumes increase and standard processing can sit at the upper end of the usual range. If you are travelling during a busy period, apply earlier or consider urgent processing.
