The mission's location in Brussels also positions it at the centre of Azerbaijan's diplomatic relationship with the European Union and NATO, though those functions are separate from bilateral consular work.

Belgian travellers heading to Azerbaijan for tourism, business meetings or short personal visits do not need to visit the embassy. The Azerbaijan eVisa is issued entirely online and delivered by email, typically within three business days. The embassy is the appropriate channel only for longer-term visas (work, study, family reunion) or when Belgian documents must be officially legalised for use in Azerbaijan.
