Consular Services
From its New Delhi chancery, the embassy handles consular work for India and for its five accredited neighbours. Typical requests include sticker visas in long-stay categories (work, study, family reunion), passport and identity services for the Azerbaijani community across South Asia, notarial acts, the legalisation of Indian and accredited-territory documents for use in Azerbaijan, and emergency assistance for Azerbaijani nationals across the region. The breadth of regional accreditation makes New Delhi one of Azerbaijan's busier South-Asian consular nodes. The mission also engages with Indian government institutions and supports cultural, educational and trade-related exchanges between Azerbaijan and India.
Embassy or eVisa?
Indian travellers visiting Azerbaijan as tourists or for short business apply for the eVisa online — the application is submitted, payment is confirmed, and the approved visa is emailed as a PDF, normally within three business days. The New Delhi embassy is the appropriate channel only when travel falls outside the eVisa (work, study, long-stay residence, family reunion) or when Indian-issued documents must be legalised for use in Azerbaijan. Applicants from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bhutan or Nepal who need consular assistance outside the eVisa contact New Delhi as the accredited mission.
Apply for your Azerbaijan visa online
Most travellers don't need to visit the embassy — eligible nationalities can apply for the eVisa online.
Jurisdiction / Areas Served
The Embassy of Azerbaijan in New Delhi serves the Republic of India and is additionally accredited to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bhutan and Nepal. There is currently no Azerbaijani consulate elsewhere in South Asia; all consular work for the six jurisdictions is centralised in New Delhi.
